LED light devices are non-invasive tools used in skincare and wellness treatments. They use Light-Emitting Diode (LED) technology to deliver specific wavelengths of light to the skin. 
These devices are designed to address a variety of skin concerns, such as aging, acne, inflammation, and general skin health.
The light penetrates the skin at varying depths and initiates varied biological processes that can enhance skin appearance and health.
LED light therapy is non-invasive, painless, and requires no recovery time. The primary types of LED chips used in these devices are:
  • Red LED Chips: These typically emit light at wavelengths around 630-660 nanometers (nm). Red light is known for its ability to penetrate the skin and promote collagen production, improve circulation and skin texture and reduce inflammation.
  • Near-Infrared (NIR) LED Chips: These emit light at wavelengths around 810-850 nm. Near-infrared light can penetrate deeper into the tissues compared to red light, providing benefits such as enhanced wound healing, pain relief, and muscle recovery.

  1. Blue LED Light:
    • Wavelength: Typically 405-420 nm.
    • Benefits:
      • Kills acne-causing bacteria.
      • Reduces oil production.
      • Helps in treating acne and preventing breakouts.
  2. Green LED Light:
    • Wavelength: Typically 495-570 nm.
    • Benefits:
      • Reduces pigmentation and evens skin tone.
      • Helps in reducing redness and calming the skin.
  3. Yellow LED Light:
    • Wavelength: Typically 570-590 nm.
    • Benefits:
      • Reduces redness.
      • Improves circulation.
      • It can help in reducing the appearance of fine lines.
The skin’s absorption of light interacts with chromophores, which are photoreceptor molecules found within cells. Consequently, these interactions initiate a host of cellular activities, such as:
  • Production of ATP: The light energy stimulates more adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production from the mitochondria, the cell’s powerhouse where energy is generated. This increased energy helps cells to work more efficiently, heal faster and rejuvenate quicker.
  • Collagen and Elastin Synthesis: In particular, red light triggers the synthesis of collagen and elastin proteins, which keep the skin firm, smooth, and young-looking.
  • Increased Circulation: Moreover, this light enhances blood flow, supplying extra oxygen and nutrients to an area that facilitates reducing inflammation and speeding up healing processes, leading to better skin tone.
  • Reduction of Inflammation: It has been shown that LED light treatment inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokines while promoting anti-inflammatory cytokines; thus, it can be useful in certain conditions like acne and rosacea.

Distinctions between Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) Chip in LED Light Devices:

Number of Chips Per LED:

  • Single-Chip LEDs: These emit light at one wavelength, creating a directed therapeutic effect. They are normally less potent, but they can be highly effective for specific care.
  • Multi-Chip LEDs: These have multiple chips in one diode and two to three chips with them. The presence of more chips intensifies the illumination and widens its coverage area, making these devices powerful for large areas of treatment.
-These devices have strips of flat lights made up of 1-3 chips, which are the red and near-infrared LED light delivery system.
-The more chips in light within the strip, the stronger the device is usually the rule.
What is a Global System of Chips?
A “Global System of Chips” refers to a more advanced and comprehensive LED Light delivery system where multiple chips (both red and near-infrared) are integrated into the device to work synergistically. This system ensures that the light emitted covers a broad spectrum and penetrates at varying depths, providing a more effective and versatile treatment.
 
What does “5050SMD” mean?
5050 SMD refers to a specific type of Surface-Mounted Device (SMD) LED. The “5050” designation indicates the size of the LED chip, which is 5.0mm x 5.0mm. SMD refers to the method by which the LED is mounted on a circuit board.

5050 SMD LEDs are known for their high brightness because they can contain three diodes in one chip (usually red, green, and blue). This allows them to produce a wide range of colours and a higher lumen output compared to smaller SMD LEDs. Due to their larger size and multiple diodes, 5050 SMD LEDs typically consume more power than smaller SMD LEDs. However, they are also more powerful and efficient, providing brighter light so can be used to deliver more intense and effective light treatment.
